Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Three new bullet train corridors in north, south, east India as part of BJP’s manifesto


Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, April 14 released its election manifesto ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 at their headquarters in the national capital. Titled the ”Sankalp Patra”, the manifesto caters largely to the poor, youth, farmers and women.

The manifesto also emphasised the development of world-class infrastructure by providing best-in-class experience in railways. In the ‘Sankalp Patra’, the BJP mentioned the expansion of the bullet train corridor in the country.

They stated that the government is constructing the first bullet train corridor in the country, and using the experience gained so far, they will initiate feasibility studies for bullet train corridors in the north, south, and east of India.

Currently, construction is underway in full swing and is almost reaching completion for the bullet train corridor on the west side of the country that will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

During the event of the manifesto release, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Today the work of the Ahmedabad Mumbai Bullet Train is going on in full swing and is almost reaching completion. In the same way, one bullet train will run in North India, one bullet train in South India, and one bullet train in Eastern India. Survey work for this will also be started soon.”

The event was attended by several leaders of the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The BJP’s 27-member manifesto committee is chaired by Defence Minister and former BJP chief Rajnath Singh, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister Piyush Goyal as the convenor and the co-convenor, respectively. Arjun Munda, Bhupender Yadav, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Kiren Rijiju, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Vasundhara Raje, Smriti Irani, Sushil Modi, Keshav Prasad Maurya, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Bhupender Patel are among the members of the panel.

The Lok Sabha elections 2024, which will choose the 543 members for the 18th Lok Sabha, are scheduled to take place between April 19, 2024, and June 1, 2024. There will be seven phases to the elections.
